Plantastic Makeovers: DIY Summer Planters from Pots You Already Own
Vibrant Flowers in Colors Pink, Red, Yellow & Purple
This summer, I decided to take a different approach to updating my curb appeal by creating multiple planters for both my front and back porches using pots I saved from previous years. It’s often surprising how much we can spend on a plant simply because of its decorative pot. By opting to recycle my existing pots, I was able to focus my budget on high-quality soil and an array of colorful annual flower packs, allowing me to create my own floral arrangements that reflect my style and taste. As my son and I wandered through the local garden shop, we were captivated by the array of colors—shades of royal purple, sunny yellow, and fiery red, along with rich earthy greens and crisp whites.
The selection of blooms in full display was exhilarating, making it a pleasure to go plant shopping, and we couldn’t wait to get home to start planting! Digging in the soil proved to be both a pleasurable and fulfilling experience.
Together, we delighted in the simple joys of gardening, arranging our handpicked selections for each pot. Our budget of about $150 allowed us to craft four large, eye-catching planters. We intentionally selected annuals known for their bright colors, resilience in direct sunlight, and minimal watering needs—perfect for the sweltering Georgia summer.
In the cool of early morning, we water these plants a few times each week, unless our Heavenly Father blesses us with rain that day.
The anticipation of watching these arrangements flourish and thrive fills me with excitement, mirroring the lessons we learn in life. Just as these plants require nurturing, the growth we seek in our own lives also demands patience and care. This journey reminds me to relish the process, celebrating each small achievement along the way. Just as we lovingly water and tend to our plants, we must foster the aspirations and dreams in our lives, nurturing them to cultivate future success.
I hope this reflection resonates with others, inspiring an abundance of growth and flourishing in all endeavors in the years ahead. Here’s to your beautiful garden, whether a plant or new beginning! :)
